Degumming is the first step of refining. The degumming process only includes the hydration of crude oil. Some impurities such as phospholipids, colloids and proteins are dissolved in the oil when there is no water. Once hydrated, they cannot be dissolved in the oil. This is the principle of hydration degumming. However, some colloids are still in the oil after hydration, which needs to be acidified to remove them. In general, oil refineries use hydration degumming more than refineries, and only a small amount of oil feet accumulate in the intermediate storage tank. The degummed aqueous phase can be reused in the steaming and stripping of meal, while phospholipids have excellent commercial value and can be dried separately.


Alkaline neutralization this operation uses caustic soda to neutralize the free fatty acids in the oil and saponify it After saponification, the free acid is no longer soluble in water, so it can be precipitated or centrifuged. After the free acid is removed, neutralization cannot be completed, because non hydrated phospholipids must be removed at this stage. In addition, it also reduces the number of secondary components such as metal ions and pigments


Decolorization process uses appropriate adsorption materials to remove pigments such as carotene and chlorophyll. This is the last and most important process to remove the residual metal ions. In addition, removing other impurities is also very important, because it can directly affect the sensory flavor and oxidation characteristics of deodorized oil.

Deodorization in most cases, deodorization is the last step of refining. Its main purpose is to remove substances that affect the smell and taste of oil. In physical refining, it can also remove free acids. Although the types of technologies are different, the purpose is always one: to ensure the full contact between oil and steam and achieve the desired effect. This process can be continuous, semi continuous or intermittent, which mainly depends on the application selection, oil type and production scale. Each application has its own best advantages. Generally speaking, the three steps of deodorization are as follows:


(1) Gas evolution heating: before the decolorized oil is heated by heat exchange with deodorized oil, the air in the oil must be drained first.


(2) Deodorization: under the pressure of about 3 mbar, steam is sprayed through a series of pumps. The oil is fully contacted with the steam under the stirring of steam, and the steam is evenly dispersed in the oil.


(3) Cooling: the oil is cooled by heat exchange under vacuum. We can provide continuous high-efficiency deacidification and deodorization tower and multi variety alternating intermittent deodorization tower


Physical refining technology


The traditional refining process usually adopts the alkali refining method, that is, a certain amount of alkali is added to the crude oil to neutralize the free fatty acids in the crude oil. The resulting soap feet are separated by the separation process and then washed with water. The alkali refining process not only has high refining consumption, but also produces a large amount of water washing sewage. Additional sewage treatment is required to meet the local or national discharge standards. However, the effect of physical refining process on the treatment of inferior crude oil or cottonseed oil is very ideal. On the basis of traditional refining, a unique physical refining method is adopted to inject steam into the oil through the small hole on the tray pipe. While deodorizing, the free fatty acids contained in the steam oil are also extracted. Physical refining meets the new fashion of green products and has the characteristics of low refining consumption and no pollution. Since the crude oil is no longer treated by chemical methods, no sewage will be generated in the whole refining process, and the manufacturer does not have to spend a lot of financial and material resources to solve the environmental protection problems.
